US Portal Monitor Replacement Program

In 2015, the US government announced their intention to replace and/or upgrade all the existing radiation portal monitors across the US. The estimated spend on this program was >$300MM. During my time at Smiths Group, I led the strategy and plan to respond to the proposal by the US government. Smiths Group’s strength is in maintenance of products around the world. As a first step, we needed to partner with a manufacturer of the technology. I led the business development and partnership with Radiation Solutions Inc. and subsequent response to the US government call for testing, evaluation and tender.

During the 3 year process of preparing the response to the US Government, etc. I led the partnership, the preparation of the response and the discussions with the US government. In 2018, the US governement was awarded the tender to Smiths group with the full $300M replacement, maintenance and upgrade.
